Biography

I was born in 2000 in St. Petersburg and started writing music when I was twelve. Hip-hop, rap and electronic music were what drew me in, and I tried my hand at all of them while making my own tracks. In January 2015 I took the name NGUTP. I had no musical training — I still don’t — so the early years were difficult, but I kept writing and looking for a sound of my own. Things changed when TikTok took off in 2018–2019: my tracks spread there, went viral, and picked up a lot of plays.

I make everything in FL Studio and I don’t stay in one genre. What holds the tracks together is the sound rather than the style — something I’d call glitchy: odd effects, errors, distortion. That is what gives the music its character.

Those glitches are what I’m best known for, but plenty of my songs don’t use them at all. What matters most to me is sincerity and self-expression: I write music I like instead of following whatever is trending, and what I’m really trying to do is get a feeling across.
